DigSig: Secure. Verifiable. Trusted. TÖNNJES INTERNATIONAL GROUP GmbH introduces new standards-based data authentication technology

  • Secure, verifiable data on QR code and RFID/NFC carriers
  • Instant online and offline verification
  • Based on ISO/IEC 20248:2022 and X.509 standards
  • Versatile applications across industries

Delmenhorst, April 2025 – TÖNNJES INTERNATIONAL GROUP GmbH, a global leader in electronic vehicle identification and secure identification systems, expands its digital portfolio with DigSig, a trusted, standards-based technology that ensures data authenticity and integrity in both connected and offline environments.

Physical Signatures. Digitally Embodied.

A DigSig is a verifiable digital signature stored on physical or digital data carriers such as RFID tags, NFC chips or QR codes. It enables instant authentication and protects against data manipulation anytime and anywhere. Built on asymmetric cryptography and managed within a certified Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) according to the X.509 standard, DigSig guarantees that data originates from a verified authority and has not been altered.

“DigSig technology doesn’t just protect a document, it protects the data behind it,” says [Name], Product Manager at TÖNNJES. “It offers transparency, accountability and trust. Users can verify data integrity and authenticity with a single scan, even offline, without relying on external databases or network connectivity.”

Secure Data Everywhere It Matters

DigSig is defined under the ISO/IEC 20248:2022 standard, which specifies the data structures, signing methods and verification processes for interoperable identification systems. The technology is already integrated into several TÖNNJES solutions, including vehicle identification, digital wallets and building identification systems.

In one of the latest applications, DigSig technology is embedded in RFID-enabled house number plates. During emergencies, rescue teams can scan the plate to access essential building information such as floor plans or escape routes, securely and even without internet access. “That’s when identification technology becomes life-saving technology,” adds [Name].

From the EU Digital Product Passport to secure ID documents and traceable supply chains, DigSig provides a foundation for trusted data exchange across industries and borders.
